This card points to strong blockages, a lack of intuition and powerlessness. Action is not possible, nor can the situation be seen through. It is not a voluntary powerlessness – the eight swords point to a violent act.
This violence can also come from oneself, by blocking oneself and not allowing a necessary development. The rock and the old walls in the background look rigid and stuck – a sign of entrenched beliefs and a lack of foresight. The sky is gray, the ground muddy and soaked – firm footing and inner stability are missing.
The Eight of Swords signals a phase of endurance, until you yourself are ready to free yourself from your bonds and allow a clear view again. The present rigidity and powerlessness will not last forever, but for now you need to hold out a little longer and see the situation through.
