Five of Wands
The Play of Forces
The energy of the card
Five young people swing their wands at one another – more game than battle. The card shows a healthy challenge, a contest of strength in which everyone grows. Here friction creates warmth and ideas.
Your path with this card
Your strength reveals itself step by step in practice, in every new round. What you are capable of you only discover in contact with others. The card invites you to accept the challenge and play fair.
- Which challenge is tempting you right now?
- How can you grow through friction with others?
In the shadow
Play can turn serious when ambition takes over. The card invites you to stay a good sport and see the other as a training partner.
The image and its meaning
5 young men fight playfully with the 5 wands of fire.
No blood is shed, no one is defeated – it is mutual training that improves the strength of each one. Each wears a different garment, each is an individual, yet the game has clear, agreed rules. Working together as a team they seem to be against one another, but in this way the whole group grows stronger.
They push each other to their best, and the weaknesses and strengths of each one are playfully put to the test. The card invites us to practice the willingness to work on our abilities together with others in a team. If we surround ourselves with weak and listless people, we are easily tempted to become weak and listless as well.
If, on the other hand, we surround ourselves with strong and motivated personalities who love a challenge, we too will grow into a strong and motivated personality. The Five of Wands advises us not to avoid competing with others. A strong team around us – one that challenges us – can playfully shorten our path to our personal goals.
Sometimes it also takes inner greatness to let the strong qualities of our opponents flow into our own character.
