The Chariot
Setting Out with Power
The energy of the card
Upright beneath the starry sky stands the charioteer, ready to ride. He stands for departure, confidence, willpower and the desire to conquer the world.
Your path with this card
Where the journey leads reveals itself along the way. With every stretch of road, your trust in your direction grows. The Chariot invites you to take the reins and drive off.
- Where do you want to set out for?
- Which two forces in you want to pull in the same direction?
In the shadow
Speed turns into recklessness, will into stubbornness. The Chariot reminds you to check your direction before you hit the gas.
The image and its meaning
The Chariot is a call to pursue your goals consistently and with discipline – at the end lie integration and success.
The two draft animals stand for the polarities that must be overcome along the way. The charioteer’s gaze is always fixed straight ahead on his goal. He alone takes responsibility for the undertaking, and he alone will gain the glory that is expected.
To do so, he must sometimes leave his familiar surroundings behind and must not look back. The starry sky as the chariot’s canopy symbolizes our personal universe; this is the chariot of our path through life, which must always be steered toward the goal and the desired success. It is important not to waste time and to accept help from others now and then.
The Chariot also warns us not to overestimate our own strength and to prove and improve our skill at holding the reins anew every day. Steering the chariot of our life requires a willingness to learn. Minor setbacks and obstacles will not be entirely avoidable in this balancing act.
