Two of Pentacles

The energy of the card
A young man juggles two coins in an endless loop while ships ride high waves behind him. The card stands for flexibility, lightness and the joy of trying things out. Life goes up and down – and he dances along.
Your path with this card
Which possibility holds up reveals itself in play. Every attempt teaches you something for the next one. The card invites you to stay loose and to commit only when the time is ripe.
- What would you like to play and experiment with right now?
- Where could you take something more lightly than you’re used to?
In the shadow
Lightness can become a way of dodging when responsibility is at stake. The card invites you to stay playful while sensing when a ball wants to be set down.
The image and its meaning
A juggler dances as he balances two coins; behind him the whipped-up waves of the sea are raging.
The sky, by contrast, is clear and completely cloudless. The infinity sign, the lemniscate, is the symbol that the dual forces must be brought back into harmony again and again. It is also a symbol of the law of magic that everything in the universe – the small and the great, above and below, masculine and feminine – forms part of a single whole – everything is connected with everything and influences everything else.
This card is about our emotional balance. The sea of our soul is constantly exposed to the tidal forces of the polarities. We go through highs and lows, negative and positive, sometimes trusting our analytical mind more and sometimes our intuition.
Even if a situation sometimes calls for emphasizing one pole more strongly, we must always keep both sides in balance. The Two of Pentacles also holds the core message of the Far Eastern yin and yang tradition. To reach our goals, develop our personality and lead a contented life overall, our dual forces must constantly be balanced – a balancing act.
